Weekly Update (May 26th – June1st)

New street design and technology introduced by Philadelphia Water Department.

Porous streets made of materials that allow water to soak through the surface can eliminate pollutants in storm water and prevent them from entering the sewer system.  The Water Department has initiated a pilot program to test the use of porous materials on city streets.  CDAG hopes this pilot program is a success and that in the future porous streets will be incorporated into the many streets that connect to our waterfront.  To read more about this pilot program, click here and here.
