Over the past few months the Schuylkill River has been in the news:
In October the Murals Arts Program worked with J. Meejin Yoon of MY Studio, to install a temporary art project entitled, Light Drift. Click here for more information, video, and photos of the exhibit. Brownstoner provided coverage of this three day installation and Philly.com provided these photos. This project was funded by the “Take Me to the River” grant program. The program was designed to activate Philadelphia’s riverfronts and transform the city’s relationship to the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers. The program is administered by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission and funded by the William Penn Foundation.
It is exciting to see our riverfronts being used for public art!
Also, Inga Saffron recently reported that the city is working to bring the Duck Boats to the Schuylkill River. Read Inga Saffron’s Changing Skyline column, Duck boats pose a threat to Schuylkill Banks.
